Khopesh by teh50calFerretz Khopesh by teh50calFerretz
This is a sword I got over Christmas break, it is an ancient Egyptian Khopesh (or commonly referred to just as an Egyptian sword, or an Anubis sword), definitely the most unique blade in my collection :D. The reason its kinda smudgy is because the photo was taken right after I took it out of the box.

This sword is false edged(not sharpened) for arena and reenactment use, etc, it is handmade forged high carbon steel, and due to the thickness of the blade it is very strong, and durable.
This is just a plane sword so it only cost $130(trust me that's cheap for a sword) I love this because its so unique in the shape, and the general design is just so interesting, the sword design has a lot of history to it, being that it originates in ancient Egypt, this blade itself is very heavy, and carries with itself a certain atmosphere, like it should be in the temple of Anubis or something :P

Oh, I can give you the place where I got it, its a website, it has both decorational, and functional(such as this one) swords, only downside is this company makes their swords really well, but a bit overly heavy, because they aren't balanced the greatest, but still very good!!!

but here ya go, you can bookmark that or whatever, and in time, maybe you can get yourself one ^^

[link] (this one is more expensove, cuz its made by a different company, and balanced much better)

all of them are full tang I believe ^^

Ahh, I've long loved the khopesh style of sword... at least to look at. Don't currently have one. It's funny, I was ogling a Chris Palmer khopesh just the other day.

Is this one a Deepeeka? I would totally take it to a belt sander and get 'er sharp. >;-D

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is a Deepeeka, but its been a while since I ordered it, but if you want I could send you a link to the site that I got it from, there's also tons of other ancient culture stuff, and medieval Japan.

And yeah I would love to get it sharpened, and take it out for a real spin, and I'm hoping to do so with all my false edged swords someday :D

I can't say no to swordly resources! :D

A cheap belt grinder and the right belts, and you could be choppin' with a little work and care. Got a grinder a few years back and it's been a real time saver. One of the best investments a blade lover can make, IMHO.

Here's a link to the exact one I bought(you were correct its a Deepeeka) [link]

And here's a different one from the same place(the website sells real/battle ready or fully functional swords and cheap not so good swords, but these two are both great quality in my opinion) [link]

Really a belt grinder sounds like a really nice investment, think I'll look into something like that(or at least a cheap way to have access to one) thanks for the tip, I always like something to help me along in my sword collecting :D its blade lovers helping out blade lovers :P

Kult of Athena! Thanks for the links! That second one is the Chris Palmer khopesh I was jonesin' for. Schweet!

Glad to help. If you get access to a grinder, just be careful to use little pressure and don't let the heat build up on the edge... too much can mar the temper. I learned that the hard way. :(

well that's just cause your arms are toothpicks, and you have almost zero upper body strength.

But yeah it is heavy.

Oh I know, that's what got me collecting in the first place, I believe I have 13 blades now :D, they are works of art in themselves(I speak of the handmade ones of course) which is why I post them here. The most interesting thing as you said is that they are never just weapons, they are pieces of history, culture, the gods, and ceremonies.
